PORTAGE COUNTY – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is proposing to replace an existing bridge on U.S. 224 (Akron-Canfield Road) in Randolph Township, Portage County, and repair embankment erosion along the eastbound lane of State Route 303 (Hudson-Braceville Road) at the bridge spanning the South Fork of Eagle Creek in Windham Township, Portage County.
• The U.S. 224 bridge replacement is located between State Route 44 and New Milford Road, just east of SR 44.
• The proposed State Route 303 embankment erosion repair area is located at the Village of Windham West Corp Line, just east of Snow Street.
Structure replacement operations will result in closure of U.S. 224 between SR 44 and New Milford Road for a duration of approximately 21 consecutive days. Through traffic will be detoured using SR 44, I-76 and SR 183. Embankment repair operations will result in the closure of SR 303 between Horn Road and Snow Street for approximately 10 consecutive days. Through traffic will be detoured using SR 88 and SR 82.
Construction, road closure and detour information will be posted at each location prior to the start of project construction. Access shall be maintained to all adjacent properties and intersecting side streets during project construction. Substantial traffic disruptions are not expected to construct the project.
Construction work is tentatively scheduled to start and be completed in Summer 2026. The project construction cost estimate is $990,000
